Introduction

Recent advance in ultrashort high power laser technologies has provided the possibility to accelerate particles including electrons and ions in table-top to high energies, making the laser and plasma acceleration promising as future high energy accelerators and for wide applications. Meanwhile, the ultrashort high power laser interaction with matters can produce various novel radiations in wide parameter space including the frequency, pulse duration, and intensity. Steady progresses have been made over the last decade in both subjects, which are closely correlated each other. Currently, laser plasma particle acceleration and radiation generation are being pursued in a few Asian countries. To promote advances in this field in Asia, the first Summer School on Laser Plasma Acceleration and Radiations will be held during August 7-11 in Beijing, China. This summer school is held for graduate students, postdoctors, and researchers who want to enter or advance their knowledge in this new and exciting field. Series of lectures will be given by senior scientists in this field. Participants are encouraged to prepare a poster presentation. It is hoped that the summer school can promote the cooperation among Asian countries in this field.

Topics

  1. Novel concepts and physics on laser plasma acceleration and radiation generation
  2. Protons, ions, and neutrons by relativistic laser-plasma interactions
  3. Laser-plasma based radiation sources, including high harmonic generation and X-ray lasers
  4. Conventional particle accelerators and synchrotron radiation
  5. Numerical modeling on relativistic laser-plasma interactions
  6. Development on ultrashort high power laser systems for laser plasma acceleration and radiations
